This study is about the Evaluation of the Teaching of the English Speaking Skill in Bujumbura City Primary School : A Case Study of Selected Third Classes. The study reveals the importance of the teaching of English speaking skill and its state in primary school level. It has been undervalued for many years and has not received due attention in he education system of the country until quite recently (2006). The problem is that teachers are particularly not proficient enough in English. As a result of many, Burundian students have problems of speaking English. The aim of teaching English language at primary school is to ensure that, at the end of primary level, learners gain the ability to express themslves through simple language in familiar situations. However, the study proves the opposite of this aim. The study also reveals that in order to give pupils the opportunity to perform well in English speakig, primary school teachers need refresher courses, enough time and learn how to use all the suitable techniques and materials which enable to improve the teaching of the speaking language.
