RESUME?

The aim of this research is to find out problems encountered by teacher trainees when teaching the reading skill their teaching on the field.In order to find out those problems,the researcher collected the date from the field by using the questionnaire distributed to informants.To analyze the data,the researcher used descriptive method and quantitative method in other to came up with reliable results.As far as the sampling process is concerned,the research study was limited only on one skill i.e reading skill.In addition,the researcher carried out the research in only one commune (Mukaza commune) even though Bujumbura municipality is made up of three communes.The researcher came up with the findings which can be stipulated depending upon the research hypotheses.So,it was found out that, the methods used by trainee students when teaching the reading skill are appropriate.Secondly ,it was found out that the learning environment is not conducive,and this cannot enable learners to perform well.The last finding is that learners are not motivated in thei learning process of English as a foreign language.
