This study aimed to find out the problems encountered by pupils of technical schools in learning English. Some studies in language learning in many domains have been carried out for positive change on language teaching and learning.
However,this study was liùmited to learning English in technical secondary schools in order to identity different problems faced by pupils in their process of learning that hinder and prevent pupils' improvement in English.The purpose of this study is mainly to investigate whether the lack of interest,the lack of sufficient learning material,the absence of consistent and adapted program to follow as well as the lack of sufficient time can hinder the learning process and prevent the pupils'improvement in English in technical secondary schools.In this study,questionnaires were given to all pupils of Alessandro Rossi Technical Lycee of Ngozi and to their English teachers.Only voluntary pupils and teachers answered the questionnaire.
The results have shown that pupils of technical secondary schools encounter numerous problems during their learning process that prevent them from improving in Engish language.Those problems include the place given to English in technical secondary schools as course of low importance,the lack of appropriate program signed to technical secondary schools and the lack of teaching/learning materials to use,the insufficiency time allotted to English course in technical secondary schools as well as the teaching methods used by teachers.
Based on the findings,suggestions and recommandations have been eddressed to the Ministry of Education,Higher Education and Scientific Research,to the pupils/learners and to the teachers in order to change the view and the place of English language in technical secondary schools and get a successful education and improvement.
