This study was guided by three aims.Firstly,it investigates the extent to which English Majors at the University of Burundi master collocations of the type Adjective-noun. Secondly it explores the extent to wich English majors at the University of Burundi master Adverb-Adjective collocations and last the third aim is about comparing the two types(adjectives-noun and adverb-adjective) in order to find out which one is more difficult than the other. In this perspective,two tests were given to the participants in this study.The first was made to measure the mastery of adverb-agjective collocations.The concerned population in this study were selected from the University of Burundi in the Department of English English Language and Littérature in the 3rd year,(BAC III 2015-2016 Academic year). The results of this study showed that BAC III students do not master allocations of the'type Adjective-nouns and this comes to confirm the previous study of Nizonkiza and Van de poel (2014) in their findings on ESL.Résultats also indicate that BAC III students do not master Adverb-adjectives collocations and after comparing the results of the two tests,results indicated that Adverb-adjectives collocations are more difficult that Adjective-noun collocations what made us conclude that Adjective-noun collocations in the of collocations which should be taught to BAC III students before adverb-adjectives collocations ER -
