RESUME,

We all know how music greatly affects our feelings and energy levels. Without even thinking about it, we use music to create desired moods, to make ourselves happy, to enjoy movement and dance, to energize, to bring back powerful memories,to help us relax; to name but a few. But did you know that songs in the classroom are a wonderful way to teach and acquire English? They can helpacquire vocabulary and grammar, impove spelling and develop the linguistic skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. This research project entitled << IMPROVING ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING AND LEARNINGTECHNIQUES THROUGH SONGS IN BURUNDI SECONDARY SCHOOLS: case of Fourth Form classes Selected in Kirundo Province >> examiner a strategy in which English songs can be used to improve English language teaching and learning techniques. It aims at proposing another way of teaching English language songs and proving a solution to our student's low proficiency in spoken English. Students involved in this project, provided useful data through their participation in activities using English songs, They had the opportunity of speaking in English about their favourite songs. We also realized that they not only improved their oral production but also showed relaxed and interested, and participated attitudes through all the proposed activities. They worked with and particularly when they focused on expressing their ideas freely rather than being concerned about accuracy.
