RESUME,<br/><br/>This study aims at showing the evaluation of the teaching of reading skill in First Arts form sections of secondary schools in Muramvya province.In fact,reading is one of the most foreign language skills in communication between people who are not in face-to-face situation.This study is structured around the following research questions:What are the problems encountered by learners during the reading skill teaching? Are public schools learners intersted in the reading skill teaching? <br/>Is the time allocated to the reading skills teaching enough? In order to answer the above questions,data from a number of secondary school teachers,pupils and classroom observation helped in answering those questions.The work was carried out with a total of 4 teachers and 78 goup of pupils selected in first Arts form sections both girls and boys.The findings are that pupils are unable to express themselves in English because of lack of teaching materials and lack of time.It was also find that the majority of my informants were not interested in readingg skill.Therefore,the study after identifying all those handicaps encountered by pupils of first arts form in the course of the learning reading skill,some recommendations to the teachers of english,to the learners of Arts sections,to the government,to the pedagogical advisors and finally to the further researchers are formulated so as to improve the reading skill in English. |
