RÉSUME,<br/><br/>The present work deals with << factors affecting students' oral communicative competence in English public and private secondary schools ˃˃ precisely in the third Arts from. The study was conducted in Bujumbura city where six public and private secondary schools were selected as a sample. Data from teachers and pupils were collected using a questionnaire designed to seek informations about the teaching ( learning methods, the time allocated to speaking skill and materials used. Classroom observation was also conducted in order to have a critical assessment on what was happening in the classroom. Through this research it was found out that the lack of appropriate methods, the inadequacy of time, insufficient teaching materials affect negatively oral communicative competence among learners. A generak conclusion was drawn and some recommendations were formulated by the researcher. |
