Résumé,<br/><br/>There is a widespread outcry about the inability of First Form Arts Students leavers to express themselves well in spoken English. The present work deals with the contribution of Radio and Television English programmes to the Improvement of the Speaking and Listening skills in English.<br/><br/>In my study, I was guided by three research hypotheses. The latter were stated as follows : Radio and Television English programms are a source of learning for Listening and Speaking English language.<br/><br/>Most of First Form Arts Students are not aware of the importance of Radio and Television English Programms. First form Arts Student rarely listen to/watch Radio and Television English programmes. The target population comprises First Form Arts Students of Lycée du lac Tanganyika, Lycée Clarté Notre Dame de Vugizo Lycée Municipal Musaga and Lycée de la Convivialité as well as English programmes announcers. Fifty-three First Form Arts Students and Four English programmes announcers were involved in the study. The data used in the stdy were collected using both the written questionnaires and tests.<br/><br/>After the analysis and interpretation of data from the two tools, the researcher pointed out findings. It was then found out that Radio and Television English programmes play a very important role in language learning especially in developing basic language skills such as Listening and Speaking, and the First Form Arts students no awareness of English programmes' importance constitutes a handicap in their English communicative competence. In this perspective, a number of recommendations were formulated towards all concerned subjects.<br/> |
