Abstract:
This work is generally related to the domain of second language acquisition but it limited itself on the oral skill. It deals with the development of the oral skill in English language, especially with the factors that are connected to the department of english language and literature at the university of burundi.
When you go through this work, youwill realise that first year students face different problems when they are doing oral presentations. However, even though it is said that personality factors influence the acquisition of a second language, i found out that the most glaring problems that those students meet during their oral presentations are related to cognitive factors. The population of my research faces the problem of vocabulary, grammatical structures as well as pronunciation.
In short, this work allowed me to get contact with different students and it made me abandon the biased belief that i had before carrying out the research.
I thought before that inhibition constituted the main problem faced by first year students as far as oral presentations are concerned.
