This work set out to identify the place of the teaching of English by radio programmes in non-English speaking countries, especially in Burundi where the research is being conducted. Its main objective is to see whether or not teaching English by radio programmes is followed by some Burundians and to see what kind of impact it has in helping Burundians to learn English, so as to be fully integrated in the East African Community with relative ease.
The researchers used a questionnaire and interviews with journalists who are helping in monitoring the programme from B.B.C.-Afrique. The data collected are processed, analysed and interpreted quantitatively. After analysis,it is discovered that the programme of teaching English by radio is followed by some Burundians and is helping them to improve their English.
