The success in learning a language in general and English in particular is displayed through the ability to carry out communication in the language. This is achieved through activities which allow the learners to put the language in use.
However, teachers of English and those in Modern Arts Section in particular use activities which are not likely to enliven students' creativity and which do not include the students' mental and physical engagement. Teachers of English neglect the use of drama technique which is efficient to stimulate students' participation and creativity. As I noticed it during my teaching practive, students of Modern. Arts Section show deficiencies as far as oral communication in English is concerned.
In fact, students at the upper level need to be adapted to a spontaneous reaction on what is said. This is because in the classroom, students are often given time to think about the topic of discussion but in their everyday activities outside the classroom, they may encounter various situations which do not give them much time to reflect on.
In this work, the researher seeks in which way the students can improve their oral communicative competence in English. The main concern is to propose drama technique as a strategy to be adopted in order to enhauce the speaking competence in students of secondary school at the upper level in general and in Modern Arts Section in particular. The same work aims at showing in broad how drama activities have a beneficial effect on the betterment of the speaking skill through students' own creativity.
