This stuy sets out to investigate the case of political malpractices and their consequences in T.M. Aluko's Chief the Honourable Minister. It captures the treacherous means displayed by the new African elites in order to get access to power, exposes their inability to meet the people's expectations because of selfishness nurtured by the practices of corruption and favouritism. Based on the hypothetical contention that political malpractices have consequences on the society, this study also presents some upheavals which result from the new leaders' failure to satisfy the common man's needs as promised during their campaign for power. This study is built on the New Historicism theory and it examines the civilian governement's failure to organize a peaceful power change.
