Kirundi names were collected from the name-bearers and classified into categories in regards to what their conveyance of intentions revealed. The speech act theory was used for the interpretation of the Kirundo names that the name-giver used to convey their messages towards their surrounding world.
The result showed that he name-giver really use names in their language use to convey their ntentions owards their surrounding world.
