Résumé,

This work is a sociolinguistic study of the role played by the protestant communiy churches in the promotion of the oral english in Burundi. The theme "Assessment of the contribution of Bujumbura Internatonal Community Church to the Enhancement of the English Speaking Skill" . was chosen on the motivation of the crucial need of English Language in the world as well as in Burundi. In fact, Burundi has integrated the East African Community (FAC) whre English is the most favourd tool of communication. Therefore, The mastery of English is crucial and, this is why we aimed at discovering and promoting opportunities for oral English performance in Burundi. The research was conducted on he Bujumbura International Community Church (B.I.C.C.) working in Bujumbura city. The research was conducted on the basis of three. main themes :

A) B.I.C.C. members ' attitudes toward English.

B) Church servces and speaking skill development

C) Suggestions for a better enhancement of speaking skill

As results of the research, it was proved that members of B.I.C.C. have a positive attitude toward English and they find opportunities for praticing oral English through church services and activities. Moreover, it was revealed that they need overseas trainings to improve more oral English proficiency. In the same view of providing opportunities for a better enhancement of English speaking skill, three sets of suggestions were formulated, firstly to B.I.C.C. leaders, secondly to B.I.C.C. members who still use more the french than English and thirdly to future researchers.
