Résumé,

his work examines the question of sin and the desire for redemption in john Bunyan's The Pilgrim's. It traces the emotional distress that Christian, the main character in john Bunyan's The pilgrim's progress, suffers from after getting revelation of his sin. Besides, it examines how the character struggles to get salvation. It further aims at examining how this central character endures the trials he meets along the pilgrimage as he quests for salvation. The present work is based on the hypothesis that christian's conviction of sin in john Bunyan's The Pilgrim's progress leads him to seek for salvation through a spiritual pilgrimage. It further contends that death has no power on an individual who is determined to conquer the power of sin. In this study, psychoanalytic approach is used because it permits to evaluate a character's attitude towards sin and his deteminaton to gain salvation.
