Résumé,
This work is a study of Graham Greene's The Heart of the Matter. It is written against the backdrop of the New Historicism Approach and sets out to examine the responsabilities in marriage, the betrayal in marriage and the impacts of this marital bettrayal on the lives of the couple and those around them.
It is based on the assumption that very often marital betrayal has serious consequences on the lives of the spouses. As a result of the analysis, it is found out that marital betrayal ofteh causes many problems which destroy the relationship of spouses and that a successful marriage has many advantages.
In view of these findings, it is recommended to spouses to promote a coherent dialogue in order to respond positively to probable misunderstandings and to the state to fight against marital indidelity by sensitizing the population about the importance of monogamy because infidelity ruins the love or relationship between marriage partners.
