Résumé,
This study is about the impact of teachers'competence and pedagogical materials on the English teaching/Learning process at primary schools. The main concern of this study was to find out how competent English teachers are and how available and accessible the pedagogical materials are in Burundi primary schools for the success of the English teaching/Learning process. This study was carried out in 13 schools located in Ntahangwa commune where 80 respondents were used. That is, 67 teachers of English and 13 head-teachers. The data used n this study were collected using written questionnaires to teachers and head-teachers, interview with the D.C.E. (Directeur Communal de l'Enseignement), (Communal Director of Education) and classroom observation. Quantitative as well as qualitative data were put in percentage and analyzed accordingly. From this study, it was found out that teachers at primary schools are not competent enough to affect their pupils, performance effectively. As regards the availability of pedagogical maerials and access to them, it was realized that pedagogiacal maerials are not enough and accessed effectively by the concerned users. Recommendations were made as a way of ensuring that teachers in primary schools are competent and pedagogical materials are available and accessed.
