RESUME,

Through the càontinual use of some Kirundi proverbs,some women's rights are violated.Then,this study sought to find out some stereotypes embodied in some Kirundi proverbs whose end is to violate women's rights.To achieve this, the researcher collect data through library books,questionnaires with structured questions and interviews.The data were analysed according to Burudian socio-cultural context taking into consideration customs.symbols,images,comparison,and word reference.The results showed that that through the use of some Kirundi proverbs,some women's rights are violated such as women's right of taking floor in the presence of men,Women's right of expression,women's conjugal right,and women's right of expression,women's conjugal right ,and women's right to owning property.In addition,throughout the findings,women are considered as materialistic and untrustworthy.The results of this work will play a great role in the formulation of the appropriate policies and solutions related to gender issues,particularly gender equality in Burundian society and elsewhere.Since language designers to look in to ways to build a language which enhances a smooth communication among members of the speech community.It will also create more awareness in the readers and seek to provide some information that could be used by other researchers in order to free women from men's bondage.Apart from linguists,this study is a yardstick to scholars in other social sciences to explore more temporary theories and apply them in order to expose modern problems related to cultural stigmatization so as to achieve full women's emancipation.
