RESUME,
The present study's targzr was to identify the shortcomings of the English curriculum assigned to technical education, to find out the need for improvement of the teaching materials materials to be used, to awake the curriculum designers to provide the programme that enable the learners integrate in the world of Science and Technology. It was conducted at Ecole Technique Secondaire de Kayanza ( E. TE. SE. K.), final classes of Computer Science and Management and Computer Science and Telecommunication sections. The reading skill development being the result from different factors, the following hypotheses were set as assumptions in the study, i.e. the English programma used in privat technicale secondary Schools is not appropriate to the English reading skill development, there are no effective technical English teaching materials for reading to be uses in private technical secondary schools, the learners of private technical secondary school do not enjoy reading English materials. Eighty one learners and one teacher were involved in the study. Besides, the learners' and teacher's questionnaires, a classroom observation was used a data collection tools. The answers were analyzed by means of tables in terms of frequencies and percentages. The findings show that the school lacks the appropriate curriculum, the technical English teaching materials for reading, and consequently the learners do not enjoy technical English reading books. Finally, a number of recommendations were proposed to make aware all those who are concerned with the technical Englis teaching and learning assume their roles accordingly.
