RESUME,
This work examined religious hypocrisy during the colonial Cameroon as presented in Mongo Beti's The poor christ of Bomba. We attempted to expose the extent to which religious hypocrysy impacted on new converts during this period.Along this study,we proved the hypothesis that religious hypocrisy in the poor christ of bomba leads to varied consequences on both new converts and white missionaries.Furthrmore,it proved that religious hypocrisy obliged the new converts to wolk away from the church. As a theoretical framework,we applied new Historism becauseit considers a literary textwith an eye on history. They admit that a literary work both influences and is inluenced by historical reality. We came to the conclusion that religious hypocrisy impacts positively and negatively both white missionaries and new converts in the novel under study.
