RESERVE,
This work examines the theme of mariage and its challenges in the Akam community as marroredin Ama Ata Aidoo's the dilemma of a Ghost. It exames the marriage of a modern couple that finds it difficult to be acepted in a society that is charactérized by a traditional conception of life.Aspects of cultural expectations such as the family relations and childbearing have been revealed as the concern of Akan people as they consider marriage as a family matter rather than an individual concern. It has also been noticed through an analysis of the caracters in this play that Akan people attribute much value to childbearing as they see it as the only possible way of maintaining the family lineage.Based on the play the Dilemma of a ghost by Ama Ata Aidoo, this work is based on the hypotheses that the gap between cultures perpetuates struggle in marriages and creates a harsh environment for the couples of the contemporary times.these modern ways of living are revealed to be far away from being valid in the traditional societies, which often creates a conflict in families and provokes stress and discontent for the married. Thus, based on the sociocultural literary Approach ,this work settles on the recommendation that the gap between cultures should not be a hindrance in marriage;rather we should seek to harmonise both ways of life.Mutual understanding remains the best way out for peace and stability in marriages.
