The main focus of the study is to identify factors that affect single mothers' performance in English. The study was conducted in Ruyigi Province, 4 secondary schools with single mothers were selected. The attention was paid to the English language. The work found out that domestic activities and family support may negatively affect single mother's performance in English. Data from single mothers and English teachers in classes with single mothers were collected by use of questionnaires designed to seek for information about the factors affecting single mothers' performance in English. Through this research, it was found out that from all the research instruments used, single mothers perform poorly in English learning activities as they did not have enough time to concentration on their English Learning activities. In the light of this investigation a number of recommendations were addressed to various stakeholders in the education sector.
