RESUME,
This research on traditional wedding songs aims at analysing the message conveyed through those songs in two aspects.Our study examines the direct and indirect messages imbed in the songs.It therefore examines how the message conveyed can affect the society in general and the addressee in particular according to the performer's intention.That is the reason why a contextual interpretation guidesour analysis.The songs were mainly collected from the field of performance,that is,Matana and Mugamba in Burundi Province .In order to have been consulted and interviewed .This dtudy is carried out based on the hypothesis that rundi traditional wedding songs can transmit direct message as well as they can have an implied one.Moreover,this work concludes that the direct or indirect message through those songs can brings out positive or negative impacts to the society in general and the addressee in particular.Then ,with the help of sociological Approach,we found obvious that the reaction of the society is likely to be a result of the influence that a given work of art generates over the addressee.
