This work deals with the problems that female pupils who studies in communal lycées faced while learning English as foreign language.This work was conducted in Mwaro province in order to check some of those problems that hinder the performance of females.It was found out that in Burundi,female learners of English have difficulties while learning the English language compared to male learners.Also,Burundian English language learners have few opportunities and few interlocutors with whom they can speak English.In addition,the socio-cultural factors influence the females" performance in English learning.Female English language learners have many problems including among others social problems,familial problem and others which prevent them from performing well in English like boys.
