Résumé,

In Burundi, teaching English in fundamental school is in its third year but it remains a great concern of teachers, pupils and curriculum designers. In this study, I was guided with 3 research questions. The first I investigate to know the major practical problems taht English teachers face in Bujumbura city fundamental schools.

Second I seek to know why English teachers have those problems and the finally I wanted to get suggestions about what should be done to overcome those problems.
The study was conducted in 6 public fundamental schools of Bujumbura city.
To collect the date, two questionnaires were administrated to teachers and head teachers. The collected data were analysed question by question with frequencies and percentages. We found out that the practical problems encountered by teachers of public fundamental schools include the conuntries' educationl system that has been weakened by the shortage of pedagogic materials, the increase of students' number in class which forbids a good practice of English skills and teachers to follow each student and the syllabus which is a hindrance to a good and rapid teaching activity as it contains many erros and is of huge volume.

These were the main problems that were found. Finally, Idrew and formulated a general conclusion and some recommendations.
