RESUME,

This study aims at exploring the strategies used by learners to develop their reading comprehension skill outside the classroom.The researcher found out that the reading comprehension skill is not develop among learners because of some facors such as the lack or insuffiency of reading materials in school libraries,at their homes or in their living places.Teachers do not guide learners to the libraries and do not assign reading activities to learners.The study revealed that the reading habit is not developed among learners and also learners are not aware of the good strategies they should use when they read.The results were analyzed and revealed the factors that hinder the development of the reading comprehension skill.Good strategies that can be used by learners to achieve their reading comprehension skill have therefore been highlighted.The reseacher also formulated recommendations to teachers,learners,education parteners and parents that should contribute to the improvement of the reading comprehension skill.
