Résumé,
This work aims at demonstrating that in every human being there is a duality of two forces with which he is unable to surmount. In addition to these individual psychological forces, there are also the social forces that act on an individual thereby pushing him to adopt a new bahaviour which may be good or bad.
It equally argues that thoms Hardy's jude the obscure is a protest against evil deeds perpetrated by the late victorian Institutions, the arsh and unjust life led by the poor people, the oppression of women and generally the dreadful conformity of Victorian moralty
Including the introduction and the conclusion, the study will consist of three chapters : the first chapter discusses and provdes a critiqe abou morality of institutions. Some members of the society are restricted from getting their freedom and enjoying the human taste.
The second chapter defines the characters'bad or good trait, and the consequences are numeros as the causes.
The third and last chapter discusses the author's reaction against the weaknesses of religion, educational, economic, political and marriage patterns of the period. It also shows that when the protagonist is fighting for the good, there are opposite forces that hinder him from reaching the top. As a matter of a fact, one is called to strive the forces of evil by attempting to overcome and control his internal forces otherwise the latter would lead him to his own peril.
The psychoanalytic approach will be used to shape the meaningfulness of this work.
