Résumé,
Speaking through the language expressions such as proverbs has been considered as an authoritative and wise but convincing traditional style of communication. If ever a person in his talks uses proverbs, he is culturally knowledgeable and he is considered as a wise person but also as someone who has already experienced life in a society. Thus, this study is a sociolinguistic analysis of some Kirundi proverbs in relation to their use and their influence in problems that women undergo in the household. Therefore, such proverbs are analyzed in order to examine their implication in these problems. In addition, this research examines the effects of the misuse of some Kirundi provers. Il examines the implication of these elements in domestic violence, their effects on women's status in our Burundian society. The people's beliefs and views in relation to the implication and effects of the Kirundi proverbs are obtained through the analysis of respondents' responses, a way of exploring the misuses of these proverbs especially in justifying some acts against the female gender.
