The present work analyses the semantic implication and linguistic mechanisms used by the pupils to create new words and /or expression in their jargon.The researcher makes investigation to find ou whether the words and/or expressions used by the students are understandable from any outside group,whether these words and/or expressions keep their denotative meaning,their objective in being used,and finally the domains of school life from which students draw their jargon.<br/>Concerning the data collection,the instruments used were observation, focus group discussion and questionnaire methods.<br/>By the end of this work,the reseacher found that Nyankanda pupils have a jargon related to their school life.<br/>The meaning is connotational rather than denotational.The researcher found out that a good number of these jargons coined on Kirundi words.<br/> |
