A thesis submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the award of the degree of"Licencié en Pédagogie Appliquée,Agrégé de l' Enseignement secondaire en Anglais"

The present work analyses the semantic implication and linguistic mechanisms used by the pupils to create new words and /or expression in their jargon.The researcher makes investigation to find ou whether the words and/or expressions used by the students are understandable from any outside group,whether these words and/or expressions keep their denotative meaning,their objective in being used,and finally the domains of school life from which students draw their jargon.
Concerning the data collection,the instruments used were observation, focus group discussion and questionnaire methods.
By the end of this work,the reseacher found that Nyankanda pupils have a jargon related to their school life.
The meaning is connotational rather than denotational.The researcher found out that a good number of these jargons coined on Kirundi words.
