Résumé,
The current study deals with problems Encountered by Day school Students in Acquiring the English Speaking Skill : Case of 3 nd Form Arts of Some Secondary Schools in Makamba province. It intends to answer questions that guided this research. Those research questions focused on the students' linguistic environment, the lack of theachers and parents motivation, the teaching methodology : the lack of students' self-confidence and the low socio-économic of their families. The following instruments, classroom observation and a questionnaire administered to both 3nd Form Arts pupils and teachers, were used. This study was carried out with 125 subjects, 120 students and 5 teachers. The main findings were that day students live in a non -English speaking community at home. They are not motivated by their parent and their teachers, some parents do not provide their children with all their needs to facilitate them to speak English . In addition , the teachers' negligence of the speaking skill is an obstacle to master that language. Therefore, the researcher made three main recommendations, first to the Government to sensitize the population the importance of the oral English, to the curriculum designers to increase the time allotted to the speaking skill and to parents and teachers to motivate learners to speak English.
