The thesis studies the special language spoken by Rumonge Lycee students. It shows how students create their own language that the non-members cannot understand. They create it with the purpose of communicating freely.

As far as the slang is concerned, that language has been created by mixing four languages : Kirundi, Kiswahili, French and English. Kirundi as their mother tongue is the most used. For other language, they add a Kirundi prefix in order to facilitate the pronunciation. They do that in order to speak freely and easily.

The slang follows the well-know rules that governed a language. Even though to slang spoken at Rumonge Lycee is used in order to reinforce their relationship, nowadays, those students have the tendency to use it wherever they are without regarding whom ghey are talking with. That is the main problem.

Our study concentrates on how students of Rumonge Lycee have create a coded language that permits the students to communicate freely without being understood by what they consider as the outsiders.
